MSC Coaches,

Welcome to the MSC Coaches corner. The vertical tabs on the left have information on a variety of important topics as well as resources to support you as coaches throughout the season. Please take a few minutes to review this information.

As a coach centric organization, the MSC has the highest standards for coaches which begin with the registration process. In this process we require coach's registration, up to date memberships with the respective associations (ie., US LAX) and have a current background check in place. We also ensure all coaches complete the Concussion Training required by Colorado State Law.  Registration, Background Checks and Concussion Training are required annually.

REGISTRATION:

MSC has two registration processes, one for Lacrosse coaches that includes a confirmation of US LACROSSE membership and another for all other programs that skips the US Lacrosse process. Please select the registration that is applicable to your MSC coaching position.  Once completed, all coaches must return back to this page and complete the concussion program below.

MSC COACHES CONCUSSION TRAINING PROGRAM:

THIS TRAINING IS REQUIRED ANNUALLY FOR ALL COACHES AND ASSISTANT COACHES, AS REQUIRED BY COLORADO LAW
Effective Jan 1, 2012, Colorado's Jake Snakenberg Youth Sports Concussion Act (SB11-040) requires coaches of all youth organized sports complete annual concussion recognition education. Further, if the coach suspects a youth athlete has sustained a concussion, the coach must immediately remove the athlete from play, and the athlete cannot return to practice or play until evaluated by a licensed health care provider and received written clearance to return to play. The bill provides limited immunity to volunteer coaches and other individuals who assist as volunteers for youth athletic activities and to members of the board of directors or governing boards of a school district, private club, or recreation facility. ONLINE TRAINING

MSC uses the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports online training program. The course is FREE and takes approximately 30 minutes. The course is entirely online and covers the topics required by Colorado law: Understanding concussions and their potential consequences, Recognizing signs and symptoms of potential concussions and how to respond, Steps for returning to activity (play and school) after a concussion, and Prevention and preparedness to help keep athletes safe season-to-season.
